OK, I’ve been in New York City for too long now and it’s starting to get cold as hell and the partisan politics in D.C. is really getting to me. Which of course all means it’s time to go down south, wayyyyy down south (no, not Tennessee or even Miami), we’re talking the southern tip of South America, Chile, Argentina and Uruguay.

I am excited to get some badly needed Vitamin D at legendary beaches like Vina del Mar in Chile, Mar del Plata in Argentina and Punta del Esta in Uruguay and in general to thaw the hell out (did I mention it’s cold as hell in NYC?)

I’m even more excited to get clued in on the punk scene down there as all indications are each country has it’s own vibrant scene that’s been very active at least since the 80s and possibly before.

I’m looking forward to catching some shows, getting some one of a kind interviews and uploading some videos and photos right here for you to see. I’ll be there all month long in February so please, if you know of any punks in any of these spots hit me up.

I’m starting with Chile because that is my first stop on this tour. I did a little research and came across this bit of helpful info from CHIPS or Chile Information Project. If your curious about the punk scene in Chile and want a preview of what I may be reporting then check it out, it’s good reading.

I’d also like to mention that J.D. Salinger, the reclusive author of that The Catcher in the Rye and other classics recently died.  I think I’ll go get a beat up copy of Catcher in the Rye to read on my 15 hour plane ride next week. RIP J.D.
