I was still majorly jet lagged from a recent European jaunt, but had on my calendar to hit up The Casualties & GBH concert at the Gramercy Theatre on September 9th, 2017 and I’ll be damned if some nausea and drowsiness were going to keep me from it.
It was far from the 1st time for either of these bands but it was the 1st time in a long time for both (probably a good 7 years or so). The Casualties are without their longtime singer Jorge Herrera which was a shock to me, but hey, I’ve been out of the loop for a while. The new lead singer, David Rodriguez did a fine job whipping the loyal Casualties Army crowd into a fine frenzy, however, and Rick (bass), Jake (guitar) and Meggers (Drums), were as tight as ever.
GBH frontman, Colin Abrahall, came out strong and he and his bandmates looked no worse for the wear in the last 7 years. I noticed he drank what appeared to be bottled water after each song, so maybe staying hydrated is the secret to a long punk rock life. The lads from Birmingham, England did not disappoint either putting on a raucous show with long time hits and some previews of their upcoming album “Momentum” due out in November, one song, in particular, I took a liking to, so I’ll be purchasing the CD when it comes out.

All in all, a great night out for some punk rock in NYC and nope, punk and particularly street punk is not dead and still very much alive in NYC. Enjoy the pics and videos from last night!
